MEET CECILIE, THE FACE OF BROADWAY’S NYC FASHION WOMAN WINTER COLLECTION. FOR THE SHOOT, SHE’S FLOWN IN FROM COPENHAGEN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND IMMEDIATELY SPREADS HER GOOD VIBES AMONG THE TEAM. READ ABOUT THE GRADUATE PSYCHOLOGIST AND VERSATILE FASHIONISTA AND MEET THE GENUINE AND OUTGOING PERSONALITY BEHIND THE MODEL.
TODAY WE’RE SHOOTING FOR BROADWAY NYC FASHION WOMAN. WHICH STYLES DO YOU LIKE BEST?
In winter, I prefer warm and snuggly, “hyggelig”, as we say in Denmark. The grey oversized dress is just that and made for long evenings at home. But I also attend many meetings and I’m permanently on the road. The light-grey blazer coat is perfectly suited and can be combined with many styles: Elegant with a turtleneck and black slacks, casual with sneakers and a sweater. The powdery rosewood shades give my face a magic glow – a welcome side effect during the darker season.
AS A SOUGHT-AFTER MODEL, YOU’RE ALWAYS AT FASHION SHOOTS AND OFTEN THE FIRST TO SEE NEW COLLECTIONS. WHICH STYLES DO YOU FAVOUR THIS WINTER?
This winter, it has to be velvet! This season’s velvet styles are both casual and smart at the same time. Combined with frayed denims or fine knits you get a cool break in style that always works. I love parkas and bombers, they’re so light and extremely warm. Match with slim black slacks and a thick woolly scarf, and there it is, my favourite outfit!
WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU ARE IN A HURRY IN THE MORNING, DO YOU HAVE CERTAIN ESSENTIALS IN YOUR WARDROBE?
Yes, of course! A turtleneck sweater, black denims and a nicely cut coat always do the trick! I have about 30 coats in my wardrobe and I’m very particular regarding styles. They range from classic to edgy and determine my entire look.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONAL STYLING TRICKS?
Every woman should emphasize her best points, for example, legs with high cut pants. My trick is to slightly tuck my top into my trousers – it highlights my waistline and makes my legs look longer. And colourful silk scarves. They’re real allrounders: They brighten up any style and can be used as neckties, scarves, bandanas or belts. We all tend to wear far too many blacks and greys in winter (laughs).
YOU PERMANENTLY TRAVEL AROUND THE WHOLE WORLD FOR PHOTO SHOOTS. AS A FREQUENT TRAVELLER, HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO STAY FIT?
When I’m travelling for my job, I try to stick to the 80:20 principle regarding food. I mainly eat natural products and a lot of fresh fruit and veg. If the basics are OK, I totally allow myself burgers and chocolate, too! Sometimes I’m booked with very short notice and I can’t plan my workout properly. Then, I focus on the time I have at home and make up for it while I’m there!
YOU LIVE IN COPENHAGEN, ONE OF THE HIPPEST CITIES IN EUROPE. WILL YOU SHARE SOME INSIDER‘S TIPS FOR SHOPPING AND GOING OUT WITH US?
My little hideaway is called Beau Marché and situated in the heart of the city, on Ny Östergade. It’s a coffee shop and a boutique in one and it serves a great breakfast. The name is game: I used to live in Paris and love the French lifestyle. Christianshavn is my favourite hood for going out at night. Its cafés and bars are alongside the water and in summer, it’s where everyone meets up, you don’t even have to make arrangements!
SCANDINAVIANS ARE KNOWN FOR CELEBRATING THE COLD WINTER SEASON. DO YOU LIKE DOING THAT, TOO, AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE WINTER?
Yes, that’s true. As the summer in Denmark seems almost endless, we’re very spontaneous, always doing things together, and spend most of the time outside. So, in winter, we really enjoy being at home and making ourselves „hyggelig“, drinking hot chocolate and lighting candles in front of the open fire. We spend a lot of time with friends and family, preferably from morning to night, because Danish people just love brunching.
